How To Save A Dragon cover

Here is my cover design for my book How To Save A Dragon, by Annie Dalton, due out this September. The cover has been substantially altered for print for some reason and I'm not too pleased with the outcome. I was really pleased with the balance on this one and thought it really worked on several levels.

Oh well, that's publishing for you. You can buy the book in all the usual places on release.

How To Save A Dragon: DONE!

Hi All.

I finally finished work on How To Save A Dragon by Annie Dalton [pub. Random House] the week before last.

I was first sent the manuscript in March 2010. Several changes happened throughout the year and I only managed to start drawing proper in Feb of this year. I've had a load of other commitments to see to so that's why it's taken so long. Well, that and the fact that in February the amount of images in the book jumped from 12 to 74.

Needless to say my 6 month work schedule got a little more complicated.

I'm going to post some of the images from the book, all black ink line on white, over my websites between now and the release date in September. The sites, including this one, are listed below.

Nearly there...

Wow.

I've been so busy over the past month. Over the past 12 months, actually. Haven't stopped lately.

I thought I'd better update the blog with some of the stuff I've been working on. So here we go. The image above is one of the pages I've (penciled) so far for my book How To Save A Dragon by Annie Dalton, a sequel to Ferris Fleet.

In other news, I saw X-Men: First Class for my birthday on 1st June. What an amazing movie. As soon as I've hit this deadline I'm off to see it again a further 2 times.

I've also started reading Carte Blanche, the new James Bond novel by Jeffery Deaver. I'm quite impressed. It feels like Fleming's world but brought from the 50's to contemporary 2011.

Well. Until next (month?) time!

Busy Busy Bee...

Hi again.

Late again.

Been so busy lately. It's hard to keep the blogs and stuff up to date. To show 'something' at the very least I thought I'd do as I did last time and share an image from one of the books I'm working on.

This is an image of a cantankerous old 'wizard' who is pretty much an every day old geezer like you'd see sitting at any old bus stop, cafe or bowls court. The main difference being... well. I suppose you'll have to wait for the book to come out.

Catch ya later.

Oops...

Sorry I haven't updated in nearly a month. Been busy cracking on with work and enjoying the joys of spring an a new garden. It really is rather lovely out there.

Well, in the sense of good form, I shall post an image to keep anyone watching sated. This one is from a book I'm currently working on which shall remain hush hush for the time being, save to say it depicts a villain of the piece creeping the hell out of our main character.

Enjoy!

Happy Saint David's Day!

Happy Saint David's Day to all my fellow Welsh folk and to everyone else who may want to partake in the one that is not as "cool" as St Patrick's and Robby Burn's, merely because it doesn't involve copious amounts of alcohol and being bastardised by Americans. Ha ha.

And to celebrate, here's a doodle of a (Welsh) dragon.

Kinda.

Now on Facebook

Hi all.

Just a quick note to point out my new facebook page which can be found here. Think of this as an extension of this blog but with less personal output and more just pictures and links.

Memory Lane

Just found something that tickled me on the internet.

I wanted to use my old university building, the North Wales School of Art & Design, as reference for an image I was drawing and found a photo of my work from my time there up on the walls of the corridor.

Very funny.
